Second day assignment, find a line of desire and d Second day assignment, find a line of desire and document it. I added an equine friend to the task. Better than GCSE Maths.

I might have actually enjoyed school if it had been more like this.

However, he DOES love puddles and would spend all day in one doing this shit. #lusitano #itwasspringforeoneday. #dartmoor

Zia has agreed to help illustrate, here is her very accurate depiction of how horses really bend.
I’m not sure whether the other horses are miniature Shetland’s or just far away.,

I left Des out without a rug on because I didn’t know, so there are a lot of relational reparations to be made on my side.

I am pulling together my U.K wide clinics for 2023 I am pulling together my U.K wide clinics for 2023. It is looking likely I will be back in Devon, Somerset, Scotland and Yorkshire; dates TBC very shortly.

In addition I have been asked to go to Wiltshire by the lovely Sarah who has offered to host at her home. If you would like to ride or spectate at this clinic can you please contact me and I will put you in touch with her. She is based her Charlcutt, Wiltshire.
I cannot wait to see some of you in person in 2023.

I am really enjoying some new ways of working with an emphasis on you taking the lead in your learning and really developing your own understanding and practice. Also, this year, I will be adding in some rhythm of the musical kind.... #legerete; #goodhorsemanship; #softandsound; #artofhacking
Day 3 of the #2023janchallenge is about explaining Day 3 of the #2023janchallenge is about explaining what you do.

This is a tricky one, as I am in a constant state of questioning what I do and why I do it. If I have to explain, I say I teach French classical dressage alongside good horsemanship. This usually leaves people none the wiser. Then I try to explain I teach people to work with horses in a way which feels good to them both, and which makes sense physically and mentally. I am still not sure that really explains what the dickens it’s all about either.

I guess I haven’t had masses of choice about working with horses, as I liked them from when I could walk and draw and imagine. Even though I have done lots of other things en route, they keep coming along and getting involved in my life. And I know that’s true for lots of other people too. I know many of us can’t shake horses off, and I enjoy helping those fellow addicts make this is a safe, enjoyable and reciprocal partnership.

I am not the brightest bear, so have worked hard to make the theory and the practical application of classical riding as straightforward as possible. It turns out this is useful for lots of other people too. I have many years of person centred training and working alongside really excellent facilitators to thank for the development of some of my ‘simplification skills’. These were very helpful when it came to writing a book and setting up the on-line membership.

Some of what I do is about helping horses to feel better in their bodies; good movement is such an amazing tonic. I trained in equine massage to support this, and am developing my own ways of blending riding and hands on therapy. I am finding students love this stuff, it allows us to be still and shut up. What a treat.

This year I am beginning a Masters programme in ‘Mind, Movement and Ecology’ which I hope will allow me to combine the magical movement of horses and humans with connection with the land.

Have you got any idea now of what I do? No, me neither….

By the way, I don’t really teach kids, but some of my best teachers feature in this photo, so thank you to them. www.softandsound.org
Day 2 of the #2023JanChallenge for small business Day 2 of the #2023JanChallenge for small business owners is about resolutions.

I have never, ever had and New Year resolutions. However, this year I thought having a vague plan might not be too bad an idea. Having always lived moment to moment has mostly served me well, but there might be something to said for having a loose plan. If only to look back and laugh at the arrogance of it…

Most of my 'look at them sideways' resolutions revolve around setting aside time which is just for fun and friends (see photo). And I am being brave enough to say I would really like more security about my home situation please, as there is only so long you can enjoy the gifts of extreme uncertainty.

And I am going to have a little fiddle with my work schedule - I kind of figure that it's no good moaning about what a task master the boss is, when actually, you are the boss.

If anyone has anything to say about resolutions; good bad or indifferent, fire away! #softandsound #iberian #Legerete
